Recently I found myself wandering the Elite Eight website combing through the records of previous triumphs and defeats my illustrious franchise has seen. In my exploration, I then found myself in the blogs section of the website. There I read the entries and found myself contemplating the dynamic in this league and how it reflects the competitiveness of itself. In my time of thought, I found myself asking one question. Why do I find myself listening to complaining and excuse making year after year?
I don’t know what it is about this league but for some reason around half way through the season half of us begin to hide behind excuses and begin to extinguish the fire of competition that makes this game so great. We come her to compete, and more importantly, WIN. Winning is the goal, and the reason we even play this game. So, I ask each and every one of you one question, when are we going to start making this a truly great league? This league has no room for quitters or lame duck franchises that find themselves tanking half way through the season and finding no inspiration to change that team and try to build something that can win their home a title.
So, for this upcoming season if you find your team tanking with no hopes of playoff contention, DO BETTER. Be bold and decide to take charge of your future instead of letting your rag tag team of bums drag you down to the depths of a hopeless season. With the implementation of the 10 man league the title is more than ever up for grabs. Winners attack, winners think outside the box, and most importantly and probably most obvious winners WIN. No one wants to see a complainer win the title and you all know it. So, once you find yourself giving up, pull that tampon out and go attack the waiver wire or test out the trade market.
Do you think I’m 100% bought that the number one pick was the right decision for my Franchise? Hell no. But if there’s one thing I have learned from two titles in a row it’s that it takes guts to win this title. The great winners of our time knew they were great and rolled with it. Tyson, Tiger, Lebron, Kobe, and even our good friend Donald Trump went at their competition with a ferocity that took only another great competitor to topple them from their perch. So, for this upcoming season why not have a bit of bravado and make some ballsy moves?
Now don’t mistake this letter as a personal attack on anyone and get all salty because I decided to tell you about how some of you may be sore losers. I’m just trying to light a fire under all your asses. This season we all need to attack and make sure we reflect on this season with pride in our pursuit of glory. And for the love of god show some bravado out there this year because I’m getting tired of trash talking what feels like a brick wall.
