Duke's Week 1 Power Rankings
1. Sexual Misconduct (0-1)
157 Points
Picking up right where he left off last year, on top, even though he lost. Other than Eddie Lacy, all of Perry's players exceeded expectations for week 1. The number 1 pick in the draft proved to be the right pick and Andrew Luck seems to be back to his normal self earning 35 Points (Leading all other starting quarterbacks this week). Even his bench seems to show some consistency, averaging 13 points per bench slot. Melvin Gordon will likely replace the disappointing Eddie Lacy this week, but other than that theres not much to improve. Let's see if the reigning champ can prove himself with a win next week.
2. Best Team on Paper (1-0)
165 Points
This might be the year for Devin J. Swiftney. Though he's here at the 2 spot, he's pretty much tied for first after week 1. He beat the reigning champ, Sexual Misconduct, but the only problem I have is how luck was greatly involved this week. I'm not taking away from his victory at all, or his team skill, but it seemed that everything went his way this week. His kicker and defense combined for 33 of his points, and Brandin Cooks caught the longest pass in Saints history, due to a terrible defensive play call, to receive 16 points in 1 play. Not taking away from the mans skill at all, because he's a top receiver, but all I'm saying is the matchup was won by some lucky factors. Still, I see Devin in the finals this year.
3. Don Commish (1-0)
146 Points
Pretty solid consistency across the board here. Mark Ingram underperformed with 9 points but don't expect that all year. Last year he was one of the most consistent running backs in the league. Mainly because he plays all downs and doesn't split many reps. Spamp's receiving core is no less than extraordinary. None of his receivers were under 12 points and thats what you need to consistantly win in this league. The bench was mediocre this week, not that it even matters, but with Jamaal Charles out, Don has a bright future when he's at full strength. A dominant win this week gives the commish some confidence and he put up some great numbers this week. I expect this to continue.
4. K. Beale (1-0)
140 Points
Missing possibly his most valuable asset, Gronk, Beale still found a way to win big. Julius Thomas came up big to fill in for the injured Gronk and scored 17 points. This is not to be expected weekly from Thomas though, but Gronk will return as soon as this week. Adrian Peterson was a huge disappointment this week and this might be a sample of the rest of the season. The Vikings O line looked extraordinarily weak although they were playing a tough Tennessee Front. However, without Bridgwater, you'd expect Peterson to get more touches. Other than Peterson, no other players got in the single digits. Doug Baldwin showed out along with Mike Evans, each scoring a touchdown to improve their scores. Kyle should hope they get more receptions so he doesn't have to rely on them getting touchdowns weekly. A good showing for Beale overall.
5. Chief Keef (0-1)
128 Points
Jordan is right back where he started. On the Fringe of being good but not quite there. AJ Green went off plain and simple. Not unexpected honestly. 36 points. Wiley also owns the most hated man in football, Aaron Rogers. He had a pretty good game with 22 points. The big story here is his bench. Fitz got 28, Jackson with 16, Snead with 32, Witten with 15, and Abdullah with 15. A solid list of backups to fill in for any possible busts. Gurley got 5 points, and thats a fluke. Todd is possibly the best running back in the league right now. Thats if he preforms anything like he did last year. An okay week for Wiley.
6. Old Sport (1-0)
123 Points
A slow start and a strong finish. Jacob looked like he might have a score under 100 after Sunday but Williams saved his week with 34 points. Brandon Marshall, Colby Fleener, Arizona D, and Hauschka were all disappointing with 6 points or less each. However he has no shortage or running backs with Williams, Hyde, and Anderson all scoring over 22 points. In fact thats pretty crazy for running backs in a PPR league. Thats his clear strength here. Other than that theres a lot of average players this week for Okarski. We'll see how the rest of his season goes.
7. Bernie Brigade (0-1)
99 Points
Frat Stafford turned out being a solid starter for Bernie while the rest of his team did average to sub par. Benjamin on his bench scored the second highest at 21. The lineup really isn't too bad with OBJ, Lamar Miller, T.Y Hilton, and Thomas. His team might show some improvement throughout the year but it would be very difficult for his team to surpass the other teams from what week 1 showed. Maybe some good pickups will save Bernies team as it has saved teams in the past. Never forget the waivers.
8. The First Order (0-1)
85 Points
The Lowest points this week by a good amount. A pretty embarrassing loss for Borglin. He is possibly at the end of his totem poll decline as he has slowly gone down the ladder of success. Freeman split reps with Coleman and had an embarrassing showing of 8 points, Russell Wilson and Sammy Watkins both have possible injuries, and the 7th overall pick Dez Bryant had 1 SINGLE reception with the new Dak Prescot at the QB. Gary Barnidge? Yeah he had 0 points. Thats 0 receptions, 0 yards and 0 touchdowns. Theres not much else here. Alshon is still a stud. Case closed.
