So this was a very hard week to be doing power rankings because there is a ton of power this year in terms of points. Max is currently on pace to break the points in a season record (141.7 PPG) as Max currently has 145.7 PPG to his name. I also believe this is the first time Don Commish has been ranked FIRST in the power rankings. Let's talk record. He's 4-3 right now with the most points in the league along with being second in most points against. He's in a very tough division, but he has a great team. Going down the list of his first 4 players, he has a great team. I still can't believe he has Joe Mixon on his team, but that is more than a huge player for him right now. Overall a solid team with a deserving #1 spot.
BTOP stays at 2 for a few reasons here. He ranks a close third in points, but dead last in points against thus far. He somehow still will keep James Connor in the rotation after Bell still hasn't reported to practice. Melvin Gordon has been a little banged up and is entering into his bye week now, and Cooper Kupp is still on concussion protocol. However, this still leaves a great starting lineup with Mahomes, Mccaffery, T.Y, Golden, and JuJu. This is a clear playoff team, but health remains a concern.
Have I been sleeping on this team all year? I had Chief Keef at 5 last week, maybe because that's usually where his team is in these rankings, but he now ranks SECOND in points, only trailing the #1 Don Commish by 20 points. Jordan is actually also on pace to break the points in a season record this year, averaging 142 points through 7 weeks. I mean I look and he has, and listen closely, Thielen, AJ Green, AND Julio Jones? Not to mention James White. My only issue with this team is the murky Jacksonville backfield since Hyde is there now (Who Jordan actually traded away earlier this year thank god for him). Basically all of the pieces are falling into place for Jordan and he could honestly be a championship contender.
Jacob is just about where I thought he would be at this point in the season sitting at 5-2. He ranks 5th in points (135 PPG), which is actually crazy when you think about it. Any other year, 135 points a game would be more than enough to put you at the very top of the league in scoring, but this year everything has changed. Jacobs receiving core has been great yet again, however David Johnson has definitely not lived up to the third best player in fantasy by any means. He isn't bad, he's just on a terrible team, which is just unfortunate. Overall Jacobs team is good, just not good enough yet.
Kyle honestly has a really good team, but just isn't at the top just yet. Kareem Hunt is turning out to be an amazing running back, ranking 5th among RB's. He has both Hopkins and Evans at his receivers, not to mention the recently explosive Boyd. Kyle sits averaging 133 points per game, which is close to, but above, the league average this year through 7 games. Kyle needs wins moving forward especially sitting at 3-4 more than halfway through the regular season. the threshold is usually around 6 games for playoffs, so he'll need to go .500 the rest of the way.
Bernie has a pretty good team, and has one of the most low key great running backs at Cohen. Bernie also has an interesting development with Cooper now on Dallas, which I believe will be great for him. There isn't a ton of depth for this Brigade though, which can be scary, especially if there are some bye weeks coming up. He averages 122 a week and faces a tough team at The O. He sits nicely at 4-3, but still needs a few wins to make a playoff push.
I still can't believe this team, and thats why I have him at 7. He is 6th in points (somehow) and has the second least amount of points scored against him. He just lost his "gem" at Will Fuller for the year after he gave him a 23 points farewell present. Basically every week I feel like if one of his guys plays bad, someone else just picks him up with a great week out of nowhere. OR he just plays a team he only needs 120 points to beat. Teams average 118 against him, so he hasn't needed to do much to win these 5 games, and he's now only 2 wins away from an almost lock for the playoffs with a possible BYE. I dont know how he's still winning but he sits at the top of his division at 5-2.
I don't want to talk up my own team that much, but I feel like this team is on the uprising. Definitely not a championship contender with these other teams right now, but not a bad team in the slightest. The line is kind of drawn here - where teams 1-8 can have competitive games every week, and 9-10 maybe not so much. The start of this season killed the playoff hopes for this team, but it is not out of the picture.
I won't say much because nobody probably reads this one, but this had been a disappointing year for Duke so far, averaging 113 points a week in a league that has scored more than some recent years. Dalvin Cook has been injured which sucks because he was heavy on running backs in the draft (3/4 of which have been disappointing). Basically this is the team that fantasy specialists would have loved preseason, but have done nothing. I won't say much more than this is a must win week for Duke.
I'll keep this one short and simple as well. I definitely have sympathy for this team especially because of the Le'veon ordeal. If he had Bell, he might have a win or 2, and then wouldn't have had to make some desperate trades. It changed everything. However, he has what he has and that can't change now. I do think he lost the trade with Jordan, as I said earlier, because now he has a weird running back situation with Keryon and Hyde this week, and Jordan Howard on top of that (who has been inconsistent). He lost his guy AJ Green as well and downgraded to Alshon. I get it though, you have to take some risks if your have an 0-4 start. It will be a tough week this week against Sexual Misconduct, and it looks like he's on track to an 0-5 start.
