So Devin lost his 1st round pick, David Johnson, and now his 5th round pick, Greg Olsen, yet he still put up over 120 points (more than half the league). He had a tough matchup against Duke this week, only losing by 4 points. Devin once again has the number 1 and number 3 running backs so far this year. Devin is starting to near a problem in his lineup though. He has 2 players that will take a spot on the bench putting up 0's for the next few weeks. Devin is going to have to put a lot of his trust in his strong running back game as these weeks go on. BTOP has a decent bench with Thompson (who had 25 points last week) and Doyle (who will have to replace Olsen). BTOP remains the sole leader in points for with 275 over the last 2 weeks and even without Johnson and Olsen, I have him at the 1 spot.
Kyle looks like a serious title contender this year and he sits comfortably at 2-0 right now. Kyle is in close second with points for and doesn't show any signs of stopping, with most all of his team healthy (with an exception for Woodhead). Antonio Brown putting up 11 points is actually very disappointing for him, which is amazing. This man is a stud and kyle should expect him to put up upwards of 15 every week. So this is my one thing to say about kyle's team. Brandin cooks has been slightly to moderately disappointing. I mean the entire receiving core of new england is basically on crutches except for cooks, and he only puts up 6 points? That's an ideal situation for that man. Tom Brady is too good to just target one man. Other than that, Kyle looks like he'll have one of the most consistent teams in the league all year.
Duke had a solid but very close win in his game against the top rated BTOP. By the standings, Duke is right there in the middle of the pack: 1-1 and 7th in points for (because of the lousy week 1 performance). However, all of his players scored in double digits this week, excluding his kicker. Ty Montgomery is turning out to be a great pick for Duke as he stands as the number 2 running back right now. And with more of the packers injured, he will continue to see action. I have Duke here in the power rankings because even without his first round pick (OBJ), he still managed to put up decent numbers this week. Consistency is what you need in fantasy, and this team looks like they might have it. Duke has three #1 receivers for their respective teams (4 if you count Montgomery now). The thing that might cause Duke to halt might be injuries to Reed and OBJ. But both of those seem to be over.
Jordan did not look great in his second week, but I still have faith in his team (kind of). This next week can really determine how much trust I have in his team. Matt Ryan should still be an elite QB all year and I'm not worried about that. My main problem is his running backs. Stewart is not getting the touches he needs to be on a fantasy lineup because of the rookie McCaffery. Overall, Jordan's team is looking pretty average this week, but I see him improving the next couple weeks. Jordan's bench might be able to save him with Hogan and Hyde. Jordan sits at a weak 4 spot this week.
Ah, Coburn. A solid week for this kid after a slow start. Even with Coburn's 2nd round pick (Jordan Howard), having a disappointing slow start he still put up 130 this week. Brady is back and better than ever, Freeman is apart of the most explosive offense in the NFL right now, and Dez doesn't look terrible for once. Jason Witten is also continuing to have great numbers even though he grows older and older. He ranks first among all tight ends in the league after 2 weeks. Coburn has a big week ahead of him against Chief Keef. It will be a defining game for the Beef, but for now he sits at the middle of the league at the 5 spot.
I have PJ here at the 6 spot, but he could easily climb up to a top 5 spot very soon. PJ has slowly started to climb his way back up the standings after being ranked last in my preseason draft grades. Sexual Misconduct lead the league in points this week with 138. This was a defining week for him after a very slow 88 point start. The only reason I don't have him higher is because of some of the inconsistencies. 138 is a lot of points, and the majority of it came from CJ Anderson and Michael Crabtree, combining for 62 points alone. CJ anderson is looking like a top 5 running back, getting most all of the carries and taking advantage of a great O line. And literally half of Crabtree's catches were touchdowns this week. 3 touchdowns isn't something he will continue to see on a weekly bases, but he will definitely continue to be a redbone threat. Pj sits at a strong 6 spot.
Don is not off to a great start here in the 2017 season with no wins. The main problem I see is the teams most of his players are on. Ajayi is the Dolphins only offense, but they have a hard time scoring. Cook splits carries with a slew of guys. AJ Green has the worst QB in the league throwing to him. Pryor is on a shaky Washington offense thus far. And Mccaffrey is looking decent, but is dealing with a weak O line. Overall, I see a lot of players with sub par to average games. To win in this league you need 1-2 players that can really boost your score on a weekly bases. I see that in Ajayi and Green, but not thus far. Emanuel Sanders on Don's bench looks pretty good to me at a flex for the coming weeks, or even being started over Pryor. Other than that, Max should just hope to chug along and hope his team does enough each week to get him a win.
A solid putting for the previously ranked 10th team this week. 4 players on Charlie's team had 20+ points this week which is outstanding. Brees is doing what he does best - just be great. Jeffery showed his all-star potential in his game with nearly 100 yards and a touchdown and Charlie's first round pick is back and also had nearly 100 yards and a touchdown. There are 2 weak areas in this lineup. RB2 position and the Flex. He has no reliability at either of those positions with Crowell and Mike Wallace, and there isn't much reliability on the bench either. Team 10's bench RB's and WR's combined for just 27 points (averaging 4.5 each). His question each week is whether to play Johnson or Crowell and it's always going to be tough to call. It seemed like their roles switched in the last week, but neither exceeded 11 points. Both guys look average and I'm sure Charlie will be on the hunt for a new RB in the waivers.
Bernie had the lowest amount of points in the league this week with 85.9. Not great. Elliot looked god awful and actually gave up on his team this week. Sophomore slump? You could say Julio had a big week with 15, but I mean he was honestly probably projected more. Jeremy Graham looked sluggish with 1 catch for 1 yard. Yikes. On Bernie's bench, Allen stocked up 21 points and might be a good fill in or Flex play this next week. Other than the main topics, there really isn't much else to talk about except the fact that this just looks like a sub par team to me. Lynch might only get points with touchdowns, Fitz looks like he'll be up and down this season with the very shaky Palmer (which Ryan also had starting). And one of the biggest hype men Cousins is not showing that he's worth the early pick.
Jacob actually already gave up on his team 2 games into the season which leads me to leave him down here at the 10 spot. Jake didn't have an awful week this week but he lost some top guys. Jordy Nelson and Murray both got hurt. However, both of these guys are day to day this week. No season ending injuries. But early injuries like this is never a good sign. This means they usually take it easy getting back on the field and might get re-injured later on in the season. There are some upsides to Jake's team though. Gronk, Rodgers, and Landry all looked solid this week and Derek Henry might actually fill in Murry's spot if he misses some time. Jacob also had this weeks breakout on his bench (J. Nelson) who racked up 23 points. Overall I don't think Jacobs's team is terrible, but I don't think he is better than any other team right now.
