Duke's Week 8 Power Rankings
1. Best Team on Paper (5-3) -
(week 1 ranking: 2)
Devin had a slow week this week with only 101 points. Greg Olsen only racked in 1 reception, and the Minnesota D had -2 points to add on to the disappointment. Matt Ryan continues to show why he's the top QB in the league and Devin's running backs are the center point of his team. Here are the rankings for his starters. Ryan (1), Olsen (1), Vikings D (1), Johnson (1), Elliot (4), Bryant (2), Jones (9), Cooks (11). Its just unreal really, and its a shame he is 5-3. Devin is he best team in the league, yet he isn't even in first in his devision. If the playoffs were today, BTOP would be the 3rd ranked team... We'll see how that goes.
2. Sexual Misconduct (5-3) -
(week 1 ranking: 1)
Patrick Perry has a big week against the 1 ranked BTOP with 146 points. Everyone except Baldwin got in the double digits this week for Perry. Many, getting near or over 20 points. Sexual Misconduct now leads the league in points for with 1075 and takes first place in the west division. Even Derek Car was putting up numbers on PJ's bench with 35 solid points. Even with the number 1 pick in the draft on a bye, Sexual Misconduct lead the league this week in points. The absolute consistency is key to winning games in this league, and PJ might have that on lock.
3. Don Commish (4-4) -
(week 1 ranking: 3)
Don got a decent win this week, but against a shaky 71 points by Bernie. Max had a pretty bad RB problem this week with Ware (5) and White (4). But Matthews on his bench scored a solid 23 points. Maybe we should talk about Jamaal Charles. For the second year in a row, Max has owned the injury prone Charles, and he is now officially on the IR. He only came up with 12 points all season, but Charles career might be closing in on him. On the other hand, Brees has been a great QB for Don, along with Julio being a great WR ranking second. Don is right where I thought he would be at this point in the season, and I see him continuing to have a good season and make the playoffs this year.
4. K. Beale (6-2) -
(week 1 ranking: 4)
Where to begin. I guess ill say that Kyle's team really isn't as good as his record. He does not have a bad team, mind you, but he really should be around a 4-4 record based on his performance. But thats fantasy and theres nothing anyone can do about that. Kyle's on a 4 game win streak behind the performances of Brady, Cooper, and Gronk. And even with Ingram getting -2 points this week after being benched because of a fumble, Kyle inched out the win against Chief Keef. Stewart and Prescott on Kyle's bench are pretty solid replacements in case things start to go south with some of his players and could help him in the long run and possibly in the playoffs.
5. Chief Keef (4-4) ^1
(week 1 ranking: 5)
Jordan is coming off a loss in week 8, but still he rises in the rankings. Jordan played the 5-2 K. Beale and lost by only 7 points. Still though, Jordan scored a solid 131 points behind Rodgers, Freeman, and AJ Green all scoring over 20 points. However, Jordans Bench, besides Cousins this week, seems to be a bit weak. Ajayi is on the rise and had more than 200 yards rushing the past 2 weeks he played, scoring 33 and 28 fantasy points. After a bye, we'll see if he can continue to show out like he has been. Being 4-4, Jordan is keeping his playoff hopes alive, currently ranking 5th in the league. Jordan will hope to continue to inch his way through the season.
6. Bernie Brigade (4-4) V1
(week 1 ranking: 7)
Bernie has had some struggles this season and this week did not help at all, scoring a season low 77. Bernie ranks last in the East division, but shares a 4-4 record with 2 other teams in the west. As of week 8, Ryan had several players underperform. 5 players scored in single digits, 1 of those getting -2 (Phi D), and 1 of those with 0 (Lambo). Ryan's Point differential is the smallest the league has seen in a while. He has 940 points for and 941 points against. That's a -0.12 point differential. With a big couple of weeks, Bernie could move up in the rankings in the coming weeks in his games against K. Beale and Chief Keef.
7. Old Sport (3-5) -
(week 1 ranking: 6)
If Old Sport still looks to repeat the past, he might need to win out. Jacob's team might not have what it takes. This upcoming week, Jacob has several bye weeks, but might still be able to pull one out. Cam Newton has continued to be disappointing, ranking 16th among QB fantasy points. The rest of Jacobs team has seemed to follow Cam, having pretty average seasons, leaving Jacob second to last in the points for category. Jacob might become desperate soon and maybe be hitting the trading blocks to make some changes, much like last year.
8. The Sacko (1-7) -
(week 1 ranking: 8)
HIS FIRST WIN. Duke gets his first win of the season 8 week in against Old Sport by a margin of only 3. He remains last in points for at only 822 (over 200 behind first place in PF). Wilson has continued to disappoint this season and Ty Montgomery was sat just minutes before the game while Luke still played him. Duke has started to use a different Defense nearly every week as well, after dropping Seattle during their bye week. Forte is starting to look like how he did at the beginning of the year, now ranking 7th at the RB position. The Sacko really isn't looking much better at all, and I don't see this team winning more than 3 games all year, setting the record for the worst season ever.
